What is Gabriel House of Care?

We are a 501(c)(3), nonprofit hospital hospitality house that provides affordable, temporary lodging to patients, 18 and over, and their caregivers who come to Jacksonville for organ transplants or cancer treatment. In addition to our lodging program, we also offer an Integrated Medicine program to help alleviate the emotional and physical stressors associated with long-term illness. The programs include stress reduction management; yoga classes; nutritional cooking classes for those with compromised immune systems and art therapy classes.

Is there a cost to stay?

Through the generosity of our many donors, patrons, and supporters, we are able to offer our guests a reduced room contribution of $55 for the first night and $40 per night thereafter.

Are meals provided?

No. Guests are responsible for preparing their own meals in the fully-equipped kitchen and dining in the spacious dining room or screened-in patio. Each guest room is assigned its own cabinet, refrigerator, and freezer space for their personal food items. Cooking utensils, as well as coffee and tea, are provided free of charge.

What medical facilities does Gabriel House of Care serve?

The majority of our guests are patients at Mayo Clinic. However, other facilities served include the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute; UF Health Jacksonville; Baptist Health; St. Vincent’s Healthcare, and Ackerman Cancer Center.

Is Gabriel House affiliated with Mayo Clinic?

No. Although we are located on the Mayo Clinic campus, we are an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that manages and operates the house for Mayo patients and those from all area medical centers. We raise our own operating budget from our fundraising efforts.

Is transportation provided?

Yes. We are located on the West Campus of Mayo Clinic Florida and a shuttle service is provided to and from Gabriel House and Mayo Clinic. The shuttle runs throughout the day and takes guests to the Davis Building main entrance. Additional information about the shuttle and other transportation options are provided at check-in.
